My son transferred from another private school to Lausanne in the 8th grade. He is currently a sophomore and excelling at Lausanne! The teachers at Lausanne truly are passionate about their work and they've taught my son how to think critically, advocate for himself and others, and how to become a better citizen. He struggled academically at first, but the teachers spent a lot of time getting him on track. The academics are very challenging, but Lausanne has so many programs in place to help the students succeed. I had no idea there were private schools that invested so much in their students learning goals and academics. They truly go the extra mile and beyond! And if you have an interest in any extra-curricular activity, Lausanne offers it! You would think they had 1000's of students because of the many different activities they offer for their students. It is a wonderful school, very diverse, and numerous class offerings to choose from. I highly recommend Lausanne.
Lausanne is an amazing school! I have a lot of fun memories and I am excited to go to school. You can tell the teachers care for their students because they try their hardest to provide creative activities for the students to stay engaged in the lessons. Lausanne recognizes school can be overwhelming, therefore on various days we have stress relief activities before lunch, such as dodgeball, basketball, or watch a movie. Lausanne is also very interested in the educational advancements of their students, and an example of this interest is Lausanne requires all juniors to go on out of state college tour trip - my best Lausanne experience!
I'm going to open this with the positive parts of Lausanne I experienced in my 3.5 years there. There was a mix of good and bad with both the students and the teachers. Now the bad side. It's quite concerning that they actually charge people nearly $26,000 a year to go to this school. First, the curriculum is now the opposite of rigorous. Having been in all their "High Level" classes, I still found myself to be behind my public school counterparts. Their 9th grade math is equivalent to algebra one, something that public school students are now completing as early as 7th grade. Their biology missed the mark on what they needed to be teaching, never teaching basic parts like mitosis and meiosis. In addition to that, due to their IB/MYP programs, their biology classes are not allowed to perform dissections, as they are "inhumane," even though they are necessary for learning anatomy. Ran out of characters for this review, there was so much to say!
