We are a new family to Laurel Hall and have had a wonderful experience so far. My twin boys went to a developmental preschool and entered Kindergarten at LH with no previous academic experience. They picked up reading, writing and basic math with lightning speed, in large part due to the amazing teachers and small class sizes - and most importantly, they are developing a love of learning. It really feels like a community, which is something that’s not so easy to find in the sprawl of LA. You can’t beat the student to teacher ratio (each Kindergarten classroom has 15 kids with a teacher and full-time teacher’s assistant), and everyone from the administrators to the parking guards knows my kids by name. The parents are down to earth and involved, and everyone seems to have the same basic priorities: giving our kids the best education we can, instilling self-confidence, work ethic and drive and teaching our children to be kind, empathetic, curious and honest.

Our family has been a Laurel Hall family since 2009. This will be our last year at the school as my daughter will be graduating 8th grade. Our experience has been nothing short but amazing. The community, teachers, staff and parents have made my daughter prepared for high school. Our middle school has undergone many changes and I feel it is the strongest ever! Our new principal, Jay Guidetti has really made positive impact to our school and I am so excited to see what he has for the future. He is very involved in the classrooms observing teachers and students. He greets all families in the morning and always makes time for meetings. Pastor Marty has also made a huge impact in our community. He is kind, warm and is so great with the kids and parents. This school is a GEM!
We've been part of the LHS community for 3+ years, starting at ECC where teachers were lovely, really tuned into the kids, & very collaborative.

The kinder program at Laurel is OUTSTANDING. The teachers are awesome & kids are beautifully prepared for first grade academically & socially.

First & second grade, for us, have been equally positive. I've especially appreciated the way his teacher has helped us tune into some potential problem areas & provided a variety of tools we can use, and trust, given her years of experience. Our new principal also continues to be promising.

As for the church, we’re non-Lutherans ourselves & have appreciated how ELC has proven to be welcoming to all backgrounds, beliefs, & families.

Overall, we've found LHS to be an affordable private school with small classes, a diverse curriculum that balances arts, sciences, languages & athletics with the fundamentals, & a true community of staff & parents that are kind & supportive.
