From Las Vegas Academy of the Arts

This school is different, and when you set foot on our campus, you will feel it. Each day we create a learning environment united by a passion for the transformative nature of the arts and inspired by opportunities to provide the depth, rigor, and intensity of artistic and academic instruction in preparation for post-secondary opportunities — whether pre-conservatory or university. At LVA, the arts are not an “elective.” They are a core and essential area of study. Students do not just perform or create — they live through their performance or creation. It is their existential voice and way of interacting with the world.

We pride ourselves in our ability to unite many lifestyles, beliefs through a culturally relevant curriculum. We strive to create classrooms where students are alive with collaboration, intellectual discourse, and problem-solving. We recognize that our students are unique thinkers and use the arts to harness the diversity of our young thinkers.

All in all, as a sophomore, I've absolutely loved attending LVA. The school is filled with wonderful people who care about learning and teaching, and the arts programs are wonderful. I'm a piano major who intends to go to college for music composition, and already I've been given the opportunity to perform my original compositions in two concerts, one in my freshman year and the other in my sophomore year. Because you must audition to get into LVA, most students want to be here, as do the teachers, which makes for an energetic community. The teachers clearly care a lot about their students. There are plenty of options for AP and Honors level classes, as well as regular classes, for every student's preferences. The open campus is very large with many older buildings, so there is a LOT of walking. There are multiple lunch areas including a field. The concerts, musicals, and other performances are spectacular. I love my high school, and I highly recommend it to teens who love the arts!

I did not want to attend Las Vegas Academy at first, but the very first day already changed my mind. I found people that I was comfortable in my homeroom. Everyone is accepting and accepted. The people are open which allows the students to develop and figure out their futures. The teachers are unique and very helpful in preparing for the future. Very challenging and demanding, but very rewarding. You will definitely learn how to time manage here!
I love LVA, the experience is absolutely amazing! There is a great diversity of all types of people and everyone has the same passion as you. While there is some competition, we all just want the same thing, to express ourselves through our artistic capability. Everyone accepts each other and our unique style. The only problem is that the school building is getting old. Even though the main building is an artifact, their could be improvements. Other than that 10/10 recomend.
