Langston Charter Middle School Reviews
Rating 4.83 out of 5 6 reviews
At Langston, classes are single gender, so each gender learns using techniques that would most pertain to them. Langston is a small school which can sometime be a bad thing, but mostly it is a ood thing. Having a smaller school can mean less facilities, but it is good since you get to know all your teachers and peers on a more personal level. When I first came to Langston, I was very shy, but by the end of my first year, I was open about things, and I wouldn't be scared to answer or ask questions. The friends you have at Langston also matters. Langston is filled with good students and people in general. Going there can mean meeting friends you'll have for a long time. You will also get to know your teachers better so you won't be nervous to ask them anything, and you can treat them like a normal peer. In my opinion, Langston is one of the best middle schools I have seen in South Carolina, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who may want to join.
It's an amazing school filled with amazing teachers and students. There are so many opportunities that the faculty makes for you to succeed, and they really care about you not just as a student but as a person. This school is my family, and I'm so sad to be graduating this year, but they're crazy if they don't think I'm coming back to visit and help for community service later on. Diversity is huge here, and you'll learn to respect and debate all opinions. Langston is all about leadership and they have high standards to keep your leadership skills sharp.
I wouldn't change my experience at Langston for anything. All of the teachers have office hours which means that they stay afterschool on Fridays to help students on the work they're struggling with, grade extremely fast, and find ways to make learning interesting and fun. The teachers truly care about the students and if they understood the material, not just aced the test. One of my teachers told us that "I don't care about your grades; I care if you understand the material and are able to apply it to future problems." which truly describes how every teacher teaches us. While everyone always complains about single gender classes and the strict uniforms, most of us secretly love them because of how low-maintenance it makes everything. Since we never see the opposite gender besides the hallway, clubs, or maybe in your carpool, there aren't that many couples, so you have almost no dating drama. And since we just have to put on our uniform in the morning and not pick out an outfit, we can sleep longer. My only complaint is that it's so competitive and rigorous to qualify for high school classes, but that means that only the smartest kids can get in which helps make sure that everyone in that class can excel and no one will struggle. Langston's standards are incredibly high, so be prepared for a couple late nights every week if you want to succeed.
