Everyones high school experience varies depending on what you make of it. Lane Tech is one of the biggest high schools in Chicago therefore they have a lot to offer. I joined a dance club, Guatemalan Club, and that has truly shaped me into a different person and changed my course in life. This club made me want to pursue dance, not necessarily as a profession but as a lifetime hobby. There are many more clubs just like the one I'm in. They all advocate for diversity. Lane Tech as a whole is very diverse. All of the teachers are helpful with helping their students learn the coursework and making sure they aren't behind; they really go the extra mile. I took so many courses I was interested in like photography and graphic design at the college level. Lane is understanding that every individual student is different and offers something for everyone. Whether it be a sport, a movie night, various music classes, etc. I truly loved my experience at Lane Tech. Go! Lane! Go!

Overall, Lane has become more than just a high school to me. Lane has provided me with a tremendous amount of opportunity from programs, clubs, and AP classes. I not only feel comfortable, but I also feel challenged. To say that Lane lives up to its “college preparatory” name is an understatement. Something that truly added my experience is the atmosphere. The school is very big, but also very college-like. It’s really up to the student to decide if they want their high school experience to mean something. Some aspects of Lane that aren’t academic but just as equally as important are off-campus lunch and the school spirit! One improvement would be to add more counselors in the counseling department because trying to have a personalized relationship with your guidance counselor is nearly impossible with 4,000 other students. I love this school and I am so glad to be given the opportunity to attend Lane.
I loved my time at lane! It is the most unique Chicago Public School. Between sports and chess club there is truly something for everyone to be a part of. Lane has countless after school clubs that encompass interests from Harry Potter Club to philanthropic clubs such as Key club. Although being a student in a school of almost 5,000 can be very intimidating, especially as a freshman, you find your place and your people. You find your clubs and friend groups that make you feel secure and make the school feel not as massive. Additionally there are so many amazing people that you will meet, everyone is so genuine and truly inspiring.
