This is one of the best treasures Northampton has to offer. The teachers are devoted, amazing, and really get to know the kids. One of the most exceptional things is that because it's such a cozy school, everyone truly knows everyone. Our two kids, who are in the younger grades, know the older kids and the teachers of the older grades. The school does a fantastic job planning all-school activities. One end-of-year favorite was when students in the older grades built an "arcade" out of recycled materials and the kids in the younger grades got to play all of the games. We feel so lucky to be a part of this community!
This school is an absolute gem with a robust curriculum curriculum including performing arts, STEM (with an exceptional Maker-Space), and a dual-language and social justice component! The experienced teachers are amazingly creative and inspiring. The school community is welcoming and became life king friends. Affordable to all as well. There is a robust after-school program with many choices, as well. All 3 of my children attended.
My family does not practice Judaism, but my kids love being at LGA. They are learning a second language, learning to care for the environment through hands on farming, and learning to care about people. They became involved in a clothing drive and helping to settle a refugee family. They also told me that LGA teaches kids “to be kind”. They came from public school and have the perspective that kids at LGA take care of each other more. They are very happy!
