My 3 children attended LCDS from K through graduation, and it was an amazing experience. The academic level of all grades is the perfect challenge that they needed. They played 3 sports year-round, participated in music, art and theatre, and basically did it all! When they started college, they each felt that it was LCDS in it's 13th year. They were so ready for the challenges of the great colleges they attended. They took the regional bus from Berks County to go there, and that was a plus too, as there was a sports bus (or late bus) every day. I tell everyone I know what a wonderful school it is. The teachers are fabulous, the environment and building/grounds are beautiful. I went to public school, so I know how that feels. This is so much better, in my opinion. I highly recommend this school to all. My kids did get some financial aid, too, so that is available if you qualify for it. Love this place!
Incredible college preparation resources. Quickly adapted to online learning, and there was never any moment that my education stopped during the pandemic. Small classrooms and teacher-student ratio. Amazing global travel opportunities. Education is largely STEM-based, and the administration is currently attempting to phase out/condense art credits, which frustratingly alienates any students who are interested in pursuing artistic careers. Resources for students applying to art school are similarly lacking. I’m very grateful to have attended LCDS, however I would have liked to see a more well-rounded education that incorporated the arts.
I originally went to public school all the way up to 8th grade-- I was used to the public school format, but It did not fit my personality. Lancaster Country Day School opened my eyes and views on every aspect of life. They accept all people-- whether you define yourself as gay, transgender, religious or not, among many other aspects of life and your personal decisions.
When I was in public school, I did not present in any way shape or form... It honestly set me up for failure. But when I transferred my sophomore year after trying catholic school for a year, I became a brand new person. I was not afraid to express myself--both socially and academically! I can truly say that Lancaster Country Day School has prepared me greatly for the The Catholic University of America this upcoming fall.
