The teachers, especially in the IB program are very well equipped at their job and have multiple years of experience teaching their subjects. The content within the school's IB program was rigorous, yet essential in preparation for the examination.

In terms of communication, I feel like certain aspects could be improved especially in terms of school communication with teachers. In some instances, there was a lot of confusion about how to take on certain situations. Reaching certain individuals was also sometimes difficult.

Overall, the extracurricular activities are very engaging and students have the ability to explore their areas of interest.

I would recommend the school, especially if a student is interested in pursuing the IB Diploma.

Lamar High School is a great public school full of diversity. This school has helped me make a lot of friends throughout various organizations such as sports, clubs, volunteer programs, classes, and even lunch. This school helps prepare you with your social skills, as well as learning to adapt to new environments. Depending on the class and course level, the teachers are educated, however the lack of resources and assistance has specifically helped me understand how to work independently and solve problems without the assistance of others. Additionally, I have learned a lot about time management, confidence, social skills, as well as perspective. I have learned to understand the difficulty it takes to run a public high school with 1500+ students and how to teach students to get out of their comfort zone.
I attended Lamar in my sophomore year. I transfer there because of the IB course diploma which is great when applying to colleges. I felt better and more confortable in Lamar then in my prior high school. The IB classes are not too difficult but still challenging. Some teachers are great to what they teach, they don't just teach because it's their "job" but because they enjoy and value the education they want to give to their students. My junior year was more challenging than the prior year, one of my hardest class was physics. The teacher was really strict which is good because he wasn't the type of teachers that plays around or picks favorites, he taught every one equally and if there was someone in need of help he did his best to explain it better. In my opinion the best teachers are the strict ones, obviously there are limits. Overall my experience with Lamar has been challenging yet enthralling. I have one more year to endure the last pleasant moments with Lamar.
