I enjoyed everything about high school. It's all about getting involved and putting yourself out there. I was a part of many different aspects (clubs, theater, NHS, Hope Squad, etc) that gave me the opportunity to interact with a variety of students, counselors, teachers, and administrators. I made a lot of friends along the way and they made me a better person. What I'd like to see change is the focus that's on athletics. Let's tone down the emphasis on sports teams and round out the accolades. So much goes on in high school and there are tons of students out there making a difference. It might not be on a field or in a gym but out in the community serving others. Thank you for an excellent high school career Lakota East!
COVID-19 has made my senior year, at Lakota East high school, a year that I never forget. We started out the year with a new principal, new guidelines, new restrictions and a new way of life. The first couple of days/weeks took a little getting used to. Odd and even days with half students and the option of in person or virtual learning, something I never thought I would see as a high school student. Yet, somehow, Lakota East High School was able to keep us well-informed and well-equipped, by taking all important measures, outlined by the CDC, to ensure that the students and all staff/faculty members would be provided with a chance to attend school in a safe environment. Masks were supplied, social distancing implemented and
parents/students were notified promptly of any potential harm, due to possible exposure of the COVID virus, from a fellow student or teacher.
In all, Lakota East High School has gone out of their way to ensure Academic structure and safety for their students.

Lakota East's biggest advantage and most unique characteristic is its flexibility in every circumstance. Especially this school year, with corona virus changing everything in everyday life, Lakota East has done a great job at implementing in person learning into a semi-normal weekly schedule. The teachers' willingness to work with students to make school feel normal and to make sure we still learn in such a strange environment is unmatched. The counselors have been extremely flexible with students as well, and make the students' needs and wants the highest priority. As for school clubs and sports, Lakota East has a plethora of them. Personally I am doing marching band, Spanish Club and Engineering Club! Also, the STEM program is amazing!! Lakota East allows Butler Tech teachers to teach select STEM courses at East, which brings a whole new variety of classes to students of all grades of high school.
