Phenomenal school! Great academic programs and a strong sense of community. The international baccalaureate and advanced placement programs at Lakewood are outstanding and are incredibly helpful in college preparation. The teachers are supportive, patient, and, most importantly, good at their jobs. The campus is beautiful and the location is great.
It's okay. If you are looking to be worried about your child every day as they attend school, then this is the school for you. The building itself is dirty, and the academics don't challenge any student, except the ones that are truly struggling. Everyone I know who has a direct tie to the school hates it. Only the staff tell you good things about it, which are not true. Pulled my kids out of it in their fourth month: my ADHD son who usually struggles in school went between receiving an A and IE the first month, and one of his teachers gave me the wrong info at conferences. My honors daughter came home crying every day. She's a senior. Apparently, she was being terribly bullied, and her counselors were doing nothing about it when she asked, and even when I did. Now we go to Green Mountain. MUCH better. I love it there!
