What I enjoy about Lakes International Language Academy (LILA) is the connection us students make not only with our peers, but with the staff as well. I have become friends with my teachers who have all made a special impact on not only my education, but my work ethic and personality. I never see anybody smoking, drinking, or doing drugs, which are current major problems, and have been for a long time. The teachers at LILA keep us students interested. Something my school needs to work on is attracting more students. We just built a new addition, but the upper school is only growing by a few students each year. I feel as though if LILA had a better sports program, they would have a much higher number of students. If the program gets better, students who started LILA in kindergarten would not switch to the public school. I believe that Lakes International Language Academy is doing many things correctly, they just have a few areas of improvement to create a better quality of education.

The community at Lakes International Language Academy is incredibly nice. All of the staff are very welcoming and the teachers truly care about their students. There is a variety of clubs and activities to be apart of, making it easy to create connections with other students. The academic advisor at this school has been incredibly helpful in aiding the upperclassmen in deciding what they want to pursue in the following years after graduation. I feel safe at this school, and most importantly, cared about. Class sizes are an average of 20-30 students, making it easy for students and teachers to communicate with one another. Although there aren't a huge variety for electives to take, there will be in coming years following the addition of a new building.
I recently transferred to Lakes International Language Academy, more familiarly known as LILA. As they are a small but rapidly growing school which this year (2019) became an IB school.
I have few complaints; something I noticed coming in this year was that their program for welcoming in new students wasn't refined to something simple, but never the less this school is of high quality. They’re also building a new campus for their high school students this year which should help with small facilities.
Something I really love about this school is the sense of community and working together that it teaches. I think this ties in with the hands-on experiments and learning together as a group.
Though the school doesn't have a lot of funding as they are a small charter school, they find ways to persevere through the hardships. They have many programs like after-school activities and opportunities for their students to get a head start.
