Though this school is small, if that what's you're looking for it's great! Very competitive environment and lots of availability for one-on-one time between students and teachers. The involvement of the high school students with the lower school students is so unique to Lakehill. This school makes it possible to do every thing you could possibly want to do. I am a leading member of 3 clubs, in student government, do both the musical and the play, and manage a 3.97 GPA while also being a full-time, out-of-school athlete with practice 7 days a week. If you want to do it all, Lakehill is the place to do it, but the environment is definitely better for those focused on and driven towards successful academics. Additionally, it is very diverse for such a small, private school.
We love Lakehill! My son has very small classes and gets a lot of one to one time with his teachers. He can play any sport he likes, he plays soccer, runs track and cross country. They have done a very good job with online learning for the past couple of months. Since they have small classes and 2 campuses, they are hopeful to return to in person class in the fall. The college counselor at Lakehill is very good and gets them in front of so many colleges. The food is "pretty good" in my child's opinion. I send a lunch with him when possible. They are hiring a school nurse for this next year because of the corona virus. He will hopefully be taking the Peru trip next spring break with is Spanish class and he is very excited about that. The teachers at this school genuinely care about the kids and do everything they can to help them learn. I love the size of the school, it is easy for me to get to know other parents. All of the parents I have met are involved in the school.
My daughter is getting ready to start her 7th year at Lakehill, and we can’t say enough good things about her experience at the school so far. She continually gets support from the teachers (and they’re available for my questions as well), the work is challenging without being “busy work” to just make it seem difficult. The teachers and administrators get to know the students and pay attention to their needs, and they notice if they’re struggling with a particular concept. They also pay attention to their social cues, and know that sometimes with pre-teens (where we are), a couple of questions to make sure things are ok are in order. It’s a fantastic school community, with parents and alumni who really believe in the mission. Our daughter loves it here, and so do her parents!
