When I was attending, the school had some policies that I was not crazy about. For example, they instated a dress code in which any girl wearing shorts that ended higher than her fingertips was to be taken out of class and kept in the auditorium until someone could bring them longer shorts or pants to wear for the remainder of the day. This was a very sexist measure. That day, maybe only half the girls at the school were present in class. This policy obviously targeted girls. Policies such as that have negative effects on a young girl's education and that is unacceptable. What is really ironic is that this policy was only really enforced for the day. I truly hope this sort of policy does not still exist. Overall the school was great, and I had a great experience. This is just one example where I saw room for improvement from the administration.

When I first arrived to Lake Zurich as a transfer from another state I was nervous. It was nerve wrecking making new friends, but along the way I made great friends, met some amazing teachers, got involved with a sport, was in a club, and helped in ways to make the school better. The only thing that needs to improve is the school environment. The way everyone treats each other is mean and wrong; bullying and harassment between students is hurtful and is chaotic. Everyone needs a better way to express themselves and how they feel towards each other.
Overall, Lake Zurich High School was a generally positive experience, but there are very few people who don't play favorites. Exceptionally poor teachers were kept on because they were friends with department heads, students were awarded spots in shows and on teams because their parents were friends with directors or coaches, and so on. While the academic experience at LZHS was fine and could even be described as above average, the culture of favoritism is toxic.
