Lake Travis High School Reviews
Rating 4.01 out of 5 453 reviews
The experience overall has been pretty good. Within the school I’ve been able to meet a lot of interesting people as well as be presented with many great opportunities. I would the say the best parts of my experience so far would be the friends I’ve made as well as the teacher interactions I’ve had. Due to the good relationship I have with my teachers, they’ve recommended me for various opportunities that I wouldn’t be able to achieve without them. The worst experience I’ve had would most likely be some of the people interactions I’ve had. Some people at school can make you feel very small and insignificant. Something I would like to see change would be the diversity. I feel like out school can do more to celebrate all the different cultures presented at our school.
Lake Travis High School is a fairly large and wealthy school, giving me access to classes and resources I may not receive otherwise. My favorite thing I have experienced in the Lake Travis High School Speech & Debate Team, however I do think that the extracurriculars could stand to grow further. While I heavily enjoy S&D, just last year our room was replaced for the Latin classroom. Additionally, in clubs like HOSA, led by students in addition to advisors, I think there could stand to be more additional help from administration or the school to ensure that clubs are reaching their full potential. As a Southeast Asian student, the diversity isn't great, and most of the Asian population is South Asian, and overall it's a predominantly White school.
Lake Travis is well known for its competitive spirit. For those who are involved with academic competitions and sports, Lake Travis has plenty of opportunities. There are constantly new activities and opportunities for preparing you for your future or interests. Of course no school is perfect. Lake Travis to me is not very in tune to the teachers they are hiring. Of course we’re living in a time where it is very difficult to work in a school but I feel that the staff is the biggest downfall. Another could be the constant ways lake Travis does to make money off of its students, including paying to attend your own pep rally. Things to improve on would be the sense of community. I feel that there is not enough resources for those struggling mentally or in relationships. But when you have such a large group of students in one building you have to expect divides and gossip.
