Lake Region has gone down hill quick in the last few years. Their decision to stay with proficiency based grading is going to be the demise of many students trying to get in to good colleges.
Many teachers are unwilling to give students a “4” even if they have showed on a test that they earned a 100%. Also, there is no consistency in grading.
Administration is, for the most part, unwilling to hear parents and/or students concerns regarding the grading system.
I worry that a school that was once highly regarded is now a place that parents don’t want their kids to attend.

I liked being a part of something bigger than myself. I was involved in so many clubs and sports and activities that I was lucky enough to be offered at this school. The amount of support that this school gave me helped me become the student I am today. Without all my teachers and colleagues that were there each step of my high school I don’t think I would be nearly half the student I am today. They pushed me in the best way possible to become a better student, mentor, and friend to my peers. I am thankful for everything this school gave me.
I love Lake Region High School. While the district’s around us see us as lesser, or as an incompetent school, I feel completely different. I truly believe there is no better community than that of the Lakes Region. People of all ages come together as one to support our school for a number of events. I love the people I am surrounded by, including the adults, youth, and faculty of my community. Furthermore, I feel as if those around me truly care about my education, and want me to succeed in whatever I choose to do in life. This is all I could ever ask for from my school, and it means the world.
