All of the teachers were cared about our future. They all tried to prepare each and every student for college or life after high school. The school had a safe-ed staff to ensure everyone was safe throughout the day, these staff members also were apart of the support staff and aided students with their needs and formed friendships. There are four assistant principals, each one was assigned to a graduating class and stayed with that class as they progressed through their four years. These principals put a lot of effort into creating the best high school experience. There were also fun events such as pep assemblies, charity week, homecoming week, and cell out for soldiers. All of these events made my high school experience very fun. Our sports teams are also very competitive. My high school experience was filled with great teachers, helpful classes to prepare me for after high school and fun with friends.

Lake Orion High School is one of those places where most of the current students' parents also graduated from. Although the students have become more accepting and agreeable as the years have gone by, that may be only a reflection of the world today. The academics have taken a turn for the worst, as shown in the annually sinking placement in US News yearly ranking of the state's high schools. The Spanish department's inability to hold onto a teacher for more than a year (if that) is a reflection of the school, and administration, as a whole. The desperate clawing to boost education standards through the purchases of copious amounts of laptops and the remodeling of locker pods to work areas with charging ports shows the lack of listening to and understanding of the core issues that face daily life. Hopefully, the new superintendent will focus on the teachers and therefore the students in the next few years.
While there are some areas I am unable to comment about or give ratings to simply due to inexperience with them, I have to say that I have really enjoyed going to Lake Orion High School.

While the current school culture and diversity are about average at the moment, there have been strives to get people more involved to create a better environment over the years. The overall preparations for college were not as much as I really expected, however it was easy for me personally to succeed within what I was given.

From first hand experience in being both a choir and art kid, the Lake Orion High School music and art programs are some of the best found within the state of Michigan. Both programs taught me a lot about reaching for something more, and the people within the programs are able to challenge each other and create a caring environment for everybody.
