One of the best parts about Lake Norman High School is the amount of college-level courses that are available. There are many different AP courses, ranging from different levels of math to English to psychology to even art. All of the teachers of these courses are very interested in what they teach and seem to genuinely care about the students. They are people that students can rely on and trust to help them succeed. As a whole, the school is very good. There are many different resources available to students and students are always encouraged to pursue their passions. The one major thing about the school I would change is the lack of diversity. I do not think it is the school's fault- the. majority of students and staff are very inclusive. I just think that the school could benefit from people of different backgrounds sharing their experiences.
I loved my experience at Lake Norman High School. The way the curriculum is set up allows students to enroll in classes at surrounding community colleges such as Mitchell Community College. This opportunity allowed me to begin getting college credits while I was still in high school. When I go into college, I will go in as a first semester sophomore due to all the credits I was able to receive while I was finishing my high school credits. Some of the credits were even able to be used as high school and college credits. This allowed me to kill two birds with one stone, which in turn allowed me to complete more credits in less time. The one thing I would change about my experience is the atmosphere at the school. I wish there was more school spirit which inclined more people to go support their fellow classmates at their sporting events.
Upon arriving and transferring to Lake Norman High my sophomore year, I was very excited. The campus is larger than my previous high school, but it was very easy to navigate. Most teachers at Lake Norman truly do care about their students and their different ways of learning. There are very many class options to chose from and because of that, almost everyone is able to have a good idea of which career they are interested in before they go to college. There are multiple levels of difficulty for classes and the counselor work very hard to help you determine which one is best for you. Students have their friend groups and it can be very clique at times, but overall, most students and fellow peers are very accepting and kind. The administrators do their best to resolve any issues and also seem to care very much for the students. Lake Norman High also offers many sports opportunities and clubs. This makes for a very well rounded school and the students attending.
