I absolutely love the quality of the teaching staff at this school! There isn’t a single bad teacher here! This is a school where you can pursue what you want to, and receive the best possible education too. However, there are times when the school seems to be run more like a money-making venture than a school. I sometimes feel like they do things so they don’t get sued instead of doing what’s right for the students. The administration is supportive of students, but only to a point. It seems to me like they also don’t take the students’ concerns seriously at times. With all that said, Lake Highland is a great school, but with a few slight drawbacks.

When I think of Lake Highland, I think of an exceptionally suburban preparatory school. Its location in the populous, affluent sunny Orlando, Florida adds even more confirmation of suburban. Lake Highland has strong core values of being honest, loving all people - no matter what, and maintaining a strong patriotism for our country. There is not a school that puts more stress on strong academics than Lake Highland. The teachers all put so much effort into raising the students to be the next leaders of tomorrow and when raising the future leaders, the facilities and safety must be top-notch. Lake Highland is centered on a beautiful lake in downtown Orlando with gated entrances and security during all hours of the school and athletic day. Switching gears, this is a college preparatory school, so the curriculum is based entirely upon getting students ready for college.
Lake Highland offers state-of-the-art facilities, an amazing college prep education, and amazing staff/faculty. That being said, the intense culture of elitism, from college to everything else, could be highly damaging. The competitiveness between students is ingrained. As a charter member, I was relieved to graduate. Other major issues include the complete lack of socioeconomic diversity (obviously), lack of preparation for the real world, and a feeling of isolation from the rest of Orlando. Unlike public schools, where all the kids come from a certain neighborhood or part of town, LHP is extremely far flung. That makes it hard to build school spirit or even to spend time with friends.
