The school has potential and the staff are great, it is the Admin and the students that bring the school down soo much. I found a dead rat lying under a trash can when I arrived at school once. I didn't believe people when they said your most good kids will do drugs here. I have seen the most innocent kids turn the wrong way. Don't even start on the counselor! the counselor is crap and I would never send my kid here even if it was the last place on earth. The place is overall quite tidy but it's not clean, and I have seen kids who got suspended but no one contacted the parents. The staff is great they really seem to have the interest of the student at heart, also the academics are great, Its a good school with bad admin, the students who care seem to thrive and do amazing, Lago even offers college credit classes, the teachers are all passionate for what they do as well.

The main point that I feel should be mentioned about Lago Vista High School is how down to earth, accepting, and kind the general student body is. New or current students would have to actively try to NOT make friends if that was their goal. From speaking with new students about their past schools, they all seem to say that they much prefer the students and environment at Lago to their past schools (mentioning cliques, dangerous environments, peer pressure, etc). Nearly every teacher treats their students much like their own children - with understanding, interest, a willingness to help outside of class, and leniency when appropriate. The advanced classes are well taught (self-learning is often encouraged, but help is still given as needed). The administrators listen to the requests of the students. My only complaint would be that this school lacks many course options compared to other schools, although that is changing for the better.
Small town school. Sports wise, I recommend it.if you’re looking for small town sports. Academic wise, I would not recommend this school. Definitely does not prepare you for college. The teachers can be great! Depending on what teacher and on the students behavior.
