Lafayette was my home for 4 years. The school offers SCAPA and pre-engineering programs which adds to the diversity of the student body. With hundreds of clubs, there is something for every type of student.

One of the greatest things about Lafayette High School is the involvement of their student council. Lafayette’s student council has such a positive impact on the community and is unlike any other in the district. With 300 students constantly involved and the support of the admin, it is one of the most productive groups. They plan school dances, events to support school sports, give back to the teachers, and most importantly raise money for Dance Blue. This past year they raised over $25,000! All the money goes to the UK Children’s Hospital Hematology and Oncology clinic.

One thing about Lafayette High School that I think could seek improvement, is just some renovation. The school has been open for 80 years and could use some upkeep and renovations.

Lafayette has something for everyone. Lower class students and upper class students have their needs taken care of individually. There is a great selection of AP classes and teachers that really care about their students success. The SCAPA program is phenomenal, as well as the pre-engineering program. Arts and STEM are equally valued at Lafayette. Dues are not that expensive, and resources are plentiful. Great new laptops and psychology textbooks right before I graduated!
Lafayette is a wonderful school with wonderful faculty that are their to empower their students to do wonderful things in the future. I’m now a senior and have been their since Freshman year and can safely say that I’ve enjoyed my time. SCAPA( The School of the Creative Performing Arts) is in joint relationship with Lafayette highschool and being a student of SCAPA where I’ve been a theatre major since 2016, I know that Lafayette supports each department as well as each student’s dreams so that they may one day go out into the world and make a name for themselves and represent their home highschool the best way they can!
