I came to La Sierra Academy in Elementary and the school and my class welcomed me in with open arms. The size of the school and its classes are very small compared to your average public school. I do wish that our dress code was more lenient towards the students. As a student at a private school, I have to pay tuition monthly and then buy a uniform, which isn't the cheapest thing. A misconception that people have with private school students is that they're all rich since they can afford to attend a private school, but the reality is that students attending private schools are just scraping by to pay tuition. Attending a "religious" private school as a teenager and in that time attending going through the journey of realizing my sexual orientation is really hard since there are no resources or recognizable support system for you. I'd like to see the school recognize and have support to all students no matter their sexual orientation, race, age, etc.

I love the student life at my school because we try to get everyone involved and included. There are a lot of international students attending every year, but this year I can tell we are making them feel more included in the regular student body. We always start our morning classes with a devotional, and if not with a devotional, then we shoot up a prayer before starting the daily lectures, and other activities. I would not trade my experience with La Sierra Academy for any other school. I am grateful and blessed academically, socially, and spiritually, as a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian.
As a parent I have had the unfortunate and most unpleasant experience with discrimination at this school. I have never experienced or seen such poor conduct and leadership amongst the administration at this “so called” Adventist school. I am not Adventist and put my child here in hopes of having a good influence on my child, but alas have come to the conclusion that this is not the school that I want my child to be influenced by this sort of discriminatory conduct. My child, being a first grader should never have to see or hear about faculty drama, how inappropriate. The faculty needs to be reminded of how they should conduct themselves around parents and most especially around our children. I will not be referring anybody to this so called “Christian” school. The administration, and first and foremost he elementary principle should be utterly ashamed.
