I am currently attending La Quinta High School as a junior in the class of 2022, and it has been quite a journey. Although it is known for being academically rigorous and competitive, La Quinta is a school with some amazing and passionate teachers that actually care about their students' wellbeing. Though I will not name them in this review, I can say with complete confidence that some of the teachers in the school are the absolute best at connecting with students and creating a welcoming environment for learning.
The teachers make an effort to be inclusive and will use your preferred name if asked. The people there are very encouraging of our ambitions.
La Quinta High School offered a diverse and supportive environment in which the teachers and staff are always engaging with students and make it feel like home. Though it could be competitive and challenging, the school offered flexibility and plans to help accommodate each student's needs to make learning experiences richer and more relaxed.
La Quinta is a very good school academically, but the biggest issue that I had was feeling left out because of my race. It is a predominately Asian school and although everyone there is very sweet I had a difficult time being one of the only African American kids. Over the course of the 2020 school year, a lot of racial issues arose on behalf of all races and ethnicities and I couldn't help but feel alone with my feelings on the subject. Besides that, athletics were also pretty good even though we weren't necessarily known for our sports and we were part of one of the easier divisions. I consider me playing sports with my newly acquired friends the best thing ever! I also joined a club called Girls' league where we basically participated in community service fundraisers and planned school events such as winter formal and lunch activities which helped me make a lot of new friends and forced me to be more social, which I am very thankful for now looking back at it.
While most teachers are great, many don’t “teach” to their students, so there are many things students are expected to learn from outside help or friends. Grades causes tons of all night era and stress on many of my fellow classmates.
La Quinta High School is a good place to be and will probably continue to do so in the following years. To be honest, I had a rough start with the counselors because they really want what's best for you but sometimes, it may or may not be what you want to do and for that reason, I gave it a four. However, the academics are great here and the teachers are amazing such as Mr. (G) Geil and several other teachers that have retired already (like Mrs. Givens).
I definitely love the atmosphere of La Quinta. It's very chill and people are very welcoming and outgoing. The academics are very competitive and the teachers there are welling to help their students succeed and prepare for college. The campus is pretty clean and open but there are a couple things I would change about La Quinta High School. I would change the fact the quad is really open and that I think they could plant some trees for shade because after construction, all the shades were gone and not a lot of places to sit besides classrooms if they allowed.
My experience at LQHS has definitely been a fever dream. I can't lie, I have met incredible people, but the others are something else. This school has its moments were certain characters are ignorant and rude, sometimes racist (which is definitely not okay for a school that has a majority of POC). I think you'd have to be here for a few days to see what its actually like.
I had an enjoyable high school experience at LQ. I liked the teachers and staff. The students were also very nice and fun to be around.
The teachers really care about their students, not just about their academics but their well being as well.
La Quinta is filled with students who are willing to work hard for academic success. The environment can be healthy sometimes as the competition encourages students to try their best; however, it can also be damaging to students’ mental health as they are constantly stressed and under pressure. Most of the teachers at La Quinta recognize the competitive environment and try their bests to eliminate the pressure for students to protect their mental health, but at the same time, encourage them to work hard.
The best part about La Quinta High School is the teachers! They are all so caring and supportive of their students throughout our high school careers. You would encounter very few teachers who are unsupportive. Overall, the teachers make up the most part of LQ's friendly environment! The most frustrating thing at LQ is the class scheduling process; it felt very rushed and forced and I seem to just take classes without not knowing what they're about. In addition, LQ has an extremely stressful environment in terms of academics; everyone is so competitive!! Above everything, I made lasting memories and friendships that I hope will last me a lifetime!
Academic wise I’d say La Quinta is good at challenging it’s students and providing many resources to be able to succeed in their courses.
I think the teachers are really amazing and engage with the students. They go above and beyond to teach their respective subject. However, I did not like the lack of diversity in the school, even though many people were my friend.
Don't go here it sucks! The teachers don't care and the people there are rude. Not only that but the sports aren't great and clubs aren't funded enough. If you come you'll water the next 4 years of your life.
All of the teachers and staff that I met were very kind and warmhearted. I was happy to attend this school and even more so to graduate from this school. Everyone was supportive of me and helped guide me on my path to success. The only change I wish to change about this school is to speed up our modernization.
The teachers at La Quinta are extremely nice and supportive. The campus has expanded in the last 2 years, but the quad looks very empty, so there could be some improvement made to it. I overall enjoyed this school and the opportunities provided.
