My experience at La Quinta High School was amazing! The best parts of my experience are all the sport support at games and the school spirit. We are known for an academic-heavy school, and the stress when learning at such a competitive school is worst part of my experience. Even though our school is very competitive, the support that I got from my teachers, my counselors, and my friends really help lessen the stress. Overall, my experience at La Quinta was memorable and the 4 years of high school were truly the best years.
Very good academics and college-readiness scene, with a heavy focus on STEM fields such as Engineering, Data Science, or Medicine. The Arts aren't lacking either, and I would say LQ's art programs outcompete other local schools even with the schools' primary focus on college prep. The pathways are very good, such as the Biomedical Pathway, although the administration doesn't seem very capable of handling these pathways to the discretion of the teachers. Often resources and the like are misdirecting and the admin doesn't readily listen to the requests of the teachers on campus, which in and of itself is an underlying issue. Safety is decent, but over time has gotten worse.
La Quinta High School is an extremely competitive high school that has a suffocating atmosphere with some of the greatest friends and teachers you will ever meet. The school is Asian-dominated, with a lot of academic pressure placed on the students in addition to the high ranking of the school. There are multitudes of clubs and school events to participate in, and the teachers do their best to support the students in their struggles. However, there are several teachers that do not support their students and rather pressure them. This school will look amazing on a transcript but also stress you out for years. Most students will end up going through depressive episodes, panic attacks, and even suicide. Instead of a typical drug problem such as marijuana, instead, the students are addicted to Adderall to get better performance. The environment is friendly among students, however.
