I am currently a Junior at La Quinta High school. LQ is a very open, sociable school. The Administration encourage being nice to one another, and we have activities that connect to that. For example, in the morning as soon as you are walking inside the gates to school, you are welcomed by staff and ASB! They offer smiley stickers, jolly ranchers, and encourage you to tell someone your glad they’re there. Our school’s enviorment is healthy, and greatly appreciated. As always, you do have those kids who are up to no good, but the school quickly takes care of them! Our school is the only school in our district that hasn’t been pored money into. The school has not been remodeled from the outside, but it is still very beautiful. I am very satisfied with my school!

Some teachers are wonderful and some are not, but I'd say that's just about every high school. The principals and counselors are wonderful, all are very friendly and willing to get to know the students. There are also some excellent programs such as ROTC, Public Service Academy, and the Culinary Academy. The Culinary Academy, in particular, is incredible. However, the ASB is actually pretty corrupt. There is a rule that no club can have a fundraiser that competes with them, so that means no selling t-shirts, no selling food, etc. This makes it near impossible for clubs to fundraise and especially hurts the drama program. Overall pretty decent teachers, good facilities, and good administration, but ASB needs to let other clubs and programs fundraise.
At La Quinta High School, there are a lot of options with regard to what one can do academically. The school takes pride in its various academies and programs, including its Culinary, Public Service, and Medical Health Academies. It also has enough International Baccalaureate classes to be considered an IB school and award IB Diplomas for those who want to challenge themselves academically; however, some students feel that the lack of variety in IB courses (including only one IB science course) makes the school "less IB." There are also several AP courses that one can take, but the teachers are not always the best at teaching them or do not have very high pass rates.
