The studdents at La Mirada High School are many things: rigourous, determined, crafty, imaginitive, and even affirmative. While going to La Mirada high School may not have been the perfect experience with no troubles or hardship, the staff, administration, and amazing friendships are there to support all students with any issue no matter how cumbersome. Special shout out to the College and Career Counselor Mrs. Nguyen who without whom I would have not made it through cllege applications or even first semester senior year. Go Mats!
This last school year (2020-2021) was not the easiest, but I enjoyed how the staff at La Mirada High School made it as easy as possible. The staff were understanding when someone had wifi issues or couldn't connect. Although I never met my teachers this year in person, I still feel like I made a real connection with them. I loved how I was able to email them if I had a question and I always got a quick response. Learning online was not the easiest either, but thanks to detailed powerpoints and the teachers lectures I was able to comprehend the information well. The teachers at this school truly care for their students, which I love! The only thing I'd like see changed here is better elective classes that will truly help us in the future, such as driving, cooking, how to pay taxes, how to apply to college, how to make resumes, etc. I think that these classes will interest kids more and help us long term.
La Mirada High School is a place where I belong. The staff has been very supportive throughout my academic career. My teachers have been encouraging and very personable, something that I value while trying to navigate my teenage years. The sports teams on campus contain friendly students, who represent our school well. Clubs are very welcoming and have created small communities that it has been a pleasure to be a part of. One thing I would critic about my time at La Mirada is that the access to bathrooms regularly changes, as they close some of the closest ones off and sometimes there is only 1 open on the entire campus. This has been one of the only issues I have faced while on campus. Overall, I have had a memorable experience at La Mirada.
