La Joya Community High School is a great place to find who you are. Go fighting lobos! I have spent the past three years at this school finding new friends, discovering new interests, and finding who I am. La Joya is a great place to earn your high school education. They offer regular high school classes, AP classes, honor classes, west-mec programs, and other great resources. The teachers and staff always did an outstanding job of creating a safe and fun environment. Not only is this a great place to learn and receive your education, it is also a great place to earn that "high school experience". If you don't believe that high school can be the best four years of your life, La Joya will change your mind.I spent much of my time here not only in classrooms, but also at sports events and school dances. I am a current Senior at La Joya community high school and I am proud to say it.
I am currently a Senior at La Joya and I have spent all four years at this school and I am happy with the experience. The teachers and staff are supportive, and the school offers an amazing arrangement of academic, elective, and CTE courses. The athletic program is also very cool with a large variety of sports to choose from, and the smaller sports are supported rather then shunned which is a nice plus. The only thing I would want to be changed would be the attitudes of students who laze around and are often high in the regular classes. However, the advanced and AP classes are welcoming and generally have much more supportive and dedicated attitudes between peers.
I personally had enjoyed being in this high school. Been at La Hoya for all four years and had great experiences with different teachers and as well different classes. As an AP/Advanced student, I can guarantee that you can get all the help needed to be successful and to earn credits for college. Sure, I may have rated four stars but it’s only because of COVID-19 being a true effect to my being, but other than that it is a great school.
