La Costa Canyon High school is an amazing school overall! The school spirit is great, very pretty and safe campus, super fun football games, theater department does an amazing job with their performances, I've had good experiences with teachers, and it is a wonderful community overall. Despite distance learning being a hardship to staff, teachers, and students, I believe LCC has done a great job with online classes and keeping students learning in the safety of their own homes. On the downside, there isn't a ton of diversity and the food is not the best. Other than that it is an amazing school and I really enjoyed my high school experience there!
I would like the people to change. Which is hard to ask, but being in such a wealthy area (from someone who has not always lived in a place like this) it can get very...overwhelming. The teachers are also questionable. Some are so tired of their job that they do the bare minimum. Others simply don't care about their students. I'm only looking at the negative because that's partly what the questioned asked, but there are also good people and teachers at the school. It had good options and opportunities, it has a good message overall and is a school many people would like to go to. I'm thankful I've ended up on the school i'm in.
The students were quite unhinged when it came to the treatment of others. They were frequently rude to staff members as well as other students. The sports at the school turned into a nightmare because you were only able to join the team if you had enough money (for the most part). The leadership from higher authority staff members was non-existent as well which caused many of the teachers to feel blind throughout the pandemic and the shift from in-person to distance learning. As a person with dark skin, I felt out of place and I was often bullied. I wish that the school would take teaching and leading more seriously.
