Kuna Highschool is awesome! There are so many options available to the students there. I myself have participated in many different extracurricular activities such as Tennis, choir, JROTC, and more! I really like how we can start figuring out what we want to do in life, starting in high school. We have pathways, which we choose based on our interests. After we have chosen our pathways, counselors will help us find classes that best suit our pathway if we would like. We are able to change our pathway at any time, and there really are so many different opportunities! There are also so many great people, students, staff, and teachers at Kuna High School. It is usually a very uplifting environment, and the teachers work really hard to connect with students. That is an aspect that is really cool and helps us as students to perform the best we can.
My freshman year was great, there were a few teachers that didn’t grade fairly and a few teachers that told us one thing was graded for a final and then something else was graded. The vehicle maintenance teacher told us our final was only on tools and out of 60 questions there was one or two questions on tools. I struggled with some of my teachers and with finals, but overall it was a great start of high school!
I would like to see more positive change towards LGBTQ+ students as well as students of color. While there is a GSA club it is not at all uncommon to hear slurs of all flavors (homophobic, racist, transphobic) being yelled up and down the hallways with no repercussions. Trans students have to fight the admin relentlessly just to not be outed to their classmates and to not be actively put in danger. There were some good aspects that I had experienced but that been due to specific people who helped me find my place in a town that is not meant for people like me.
If you’re into sports and are generally a conventional person then you might do okay here but it is incredibly difficult when you are different. Performing arts and even sports don’t receive much financial support. At this school, they are expected to entertain without much support. There can be much liveliness and spirit at this school but the lack of support from admin overshadows it all.
