Although I do take pride in the small area that I was born and raised, I have realized overtime that I have spent a majority of my early life having to navigate through school on my own time. Although the staff and students are friendly and easygoing overall, we are an extremely small school with little resources. Our administration tries the best that it can to inform its students, but we are unfortunately lacking. I would very much enjoy if for future generations we had not only a more well-rounded staff, but a more diverse community, whether that be individuals representing the LGBTQ+ community, racial heritage, or simply a specific political statement. I feel that having more representation would then branch into changing our academics, sports, and music programs, hopefully helping our school to keep up with more modern times, as well as giving the students proper opportunities.

Kouts High School has been my home for the past 4 years. My freshman year was scary for me, like any other freshman, but the teachers were welcoming and very helpful. In a small school like Kouts with only 330 high school students, the teachers get to know you and your strengths and weaknesses. The teacher has more time to help students individually. Most of the teachers are at school by 7AM and leave around 4PM. Our principle and vice principle make it their duty to get to know the students and help them in any way possible. The staff is very caring and helps meet the need of our special needs kids. We even have a staff member who goes around to different classes with students to help them during class. That is dedication!
I really enjoyed the soccer program here at kouts and the kouts community is very involved. Our principal is really there for the kids and always brightens your day. I would like to see the dress code change a little bit in the future because the style these days don’t really fit the dress code, but it could be worse.
