When we moved to Knoxville from the Chicago area specifically for our daughter to attend KCHS, we knew it was a good school. What we didn’t know was HOW good. Teachers who care, excellent college prep, and opportunities for every student to excel using his or her unique gifts are all important. But by far the best part of our experience is with our daughter’s guidance counselor, and the whole guidance department.

Their whole job is to make sure each student creates the life where they will be most happy and successful. They start with helping in course selection so each student is placed in the right level and courses for their interests and graduation requirements. They focus on what comes after high school and in helping students and their families prepare for college. Her guidance counselor knows my daughter and me and everything about her interests and goals. I wish I had such a wonderful experience and expert guidance when I was in high school. They are amazing!!

The administration and staff love teaching. Students are respectful and the school has a positive atmosphere. Most staff and administration love teaching and deserve medals for their inspiration and dedication to helping. I wish there were more choices for dual enrollment classes. If you are academically gifted, you will be guaranteed a great scholarship (you need a 4.0); but, if you are average, scholarships are few and far between. It would be nice if KCHS would help those students get local scholarships that are not academically based. I had a college advisor tell me my school counselor could have found at least one scholarship for me.
One staff member didn't understand those that march to a different beat, and she made a huge dent in my GPA. She was let go after school ended that year, but she made sure several of us suffered for not adhering to her uncompromising policies, and administration didn't seem to care. Overall, a great school needing a few improvements.
Knoxville Catholic High School has been a great high school experience for me. It nurtured my religion, allowed me to grow in my academic knowledge, and prepares me for the future. I love Knoxville Catholic because it offers several levels of classes that allows each person to learn at their pace/difficulty. The only complaint I have is that this school did not really allow me to show my personality. They are very big on uniformity. Although this supresses uniqueness, it also protects kids from being bullied about who they are. I loved this school, I’m glad I spent my 4 years of high school at Knoxville Catholic.
