Talking to teachers is difficult. Not all the staff is happy to help when a student is in need. The school is not welcoming to parent who are invested in their children's grades and academics. Teachers are only concerned with students passing (70s) not excelling, as far as grades. When students complain their voices are not heard. It will be a rough time to deal with administration. As far as college counseling, it's the best! College counseling is always open to students, mostly to seniors. Teachers can't handle students when it comes to disruptions in class, this makes it hard for students to learn any material being "taught".

KIPP Sunnyside is not bad. They focus a lot on college readiness and things of that sort. The classes can be hard at times but this just makes us students more prepared for tests. Unfortunately, for some it can seem like they stress college readiness too much. The people who don't want to go to college aren't always considered. I agree that college is important but that's not the path for everyone.
KIPP is a great school academically and it helps you get ready for college as well. Although it's small, the school's size is a part of why its such a great choice to attend school. There's a lot of one on one with teachers and college counselors so any help or attention a student seeks will me met. Also there's a community feeling at Sunnyside. The students are like family and teachers and admin contribute to the sense of family as well. Any person seeking to apply to any KIPP campus, Sunnyside especially, won't be disappointed.
