I began my journey at Kingsway as a junior in high school, I am now a senior about to graduate in a few months. The administration and staff are very welcoming and cordial to all students. The teachers are amazing and will not hesitate to help you when you need their assistance. Kingsway has great diversity and sports as well. The school has tons of clubs/activities so you can always find a way to keep yourself busy. Though it may be different because of covid, join these virtual or in-person clubs and activities so you can make great friends. Also, the lunch...is outstanding. I looked forward to it every day! Overall, I am sure any prospective students will love it here at Kingsway.
This school is good for academics and sports, but it’s awful towards special-needs students. They are separated an alienated from everyone else, and there is a lot of bullying towards them that goes unchecked and purposely ignored by the administration. The honors and AP classes prepared me well for college, but the CP classes felt too easy for the most part. Most of the students in general are rude and stuck-up and made me not want to go to school. I’ve had some amazing teachers that helped me succeed, but a couple of them were beyond awful. The girls soccer team consisted of mostly “mean girls” that sometimes made rude comments towards me, and the head coach made me want to quit the sport that I had played for twelve years. The girls wrestling team, on the other hand, was amazing, and I met some inspiring people and coaches there. Unfortunately, this school is not properly funded by the state, so I’ve seen dark brown water come out of the sinks on several occasions.
Kingsway was a very good school for education. Most of the teachers genuinely care for their students and their grasp on the content being taught. I have very few complaints, most being with administration. As with any school, a lot of the rules on the dress code made girls feel targeted and sexualized. In addition, their way of tackling students vaping during school hours was to only let a few students in the bathroom at once which is not fair to the large majority of students not partaking in it. My last complaint is the communication of the administrators; oftentimes they would send out information with incorrect dates or vague wording that left students and parents confused. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience. I loved the cafeteria food and the school spirit culture, especially the creative freedom students were given.
