The health program itself is excellent. Our registered nurse handles a lot of work on her own, and does so very well. Safety protocols are acquitted, and the only injuries tend to come from gang fights that teachers have difficulty separating due to the shear number of participants. Many students carry knives, but there have never been any incidents including them, and administration takes them if they are shown. As many students self harm, teachers often call homes regarding scars, bruises, and unusual markings.
There are several diverse extracurricular activities, including a high-ranked ROTC, theater, chorus (of various sizes and difficulties), debate, forensics, tennis, and other student-runs clubs such as Christian Athletes and the Gay Club. We also have a very dedicated DECA and FFA, both of which have seen national awards via individuals.
This school is a disgrace for our youngsters. The very 1st field trip permission slip for 2017 has mispelled words. I have been seeing this for 3 years in a row now. I will circle with ????? all around the mistake. I never get a response from anyone!! The fact these teachers don't correct my child's mistakes totally infuriates me! I can handle being the mean one, I can't be her friend first, I'm her parent/teacher first and her friend 2nd! If the teacher doesn't reinforce things, mispelled words, letters written backwards, upper and lower case letters mixed where they should not be and so on. I feel like they are getting the paycheck, they should be made to ensure that our children are doing their work properly! It's our job as parents to check everything daily and reinforce the importance of what the teachers are teaching, or Not , in this case!
