Key West High School is very unique. It has a culturally diverse and accepting population. The teachers and staff are also very supportive and work hard at their jobs . They help ensure our schools safety and guide students along the path of sucess. It's administration also effectively monitors the students and provides a variety of programs to keep them occupied. I personally have had the pleasure in participating in one of Key West High Schools extracurricular activities. I joined the girls lacrosse team and developed a love for the sport. My coach not only taught us how to play, but what it meant to be a family and a team.

While yes, our school takes pride in itself being an A school along with having a rich history (It was established in 1906). I believe the focus may have been taken off of education just a bit. Many students play sports and we have many to offer, but the AP classes that we have are the basic ones and we only offer French and Spanish. So, I'd say we aren't the worst high school, but we're not the best either. Many students do strive to get the best grades and want to succeed, and our school definitely helps them do that, but I'd like to see more. More AP and DE classes offered, more electives to take, and more focus on the students. We take pride in our school, and to see our students success only builds upon it.
I like their mission statement -To empower all students to maximize their potential and prepare them with the skills and experiences necessary to be college or career ready and to develop those character traits that will enable them to be productive members of society.
They concentrate on the R2D2 rule which is Respect, Responsibility, Dedication and Determination. Key West High School is the home of the Conchs and our Conch Pride shows every day. The one thing I would change is adding more parking. Since students travel from up the Keys it creates an issue with not enough parking.
