I agree, the school needs to improve their grading system. The kids get ~3 - 4 grades per grading period which makes this a high stakes testing school. This grading system starts in 3rd grade and it puts a lot of pressure on the students to perform well on just those 3 test grades. The school could also incorporate ways in which to address different learning styles, i.e. more technology opportunities in each classroom. Instead it seems like learning is very "old school". Yes, most definitely they could incorporate more hands-on learning; especially for science. No science fairs, math fairs, creative on-going projects. JUST TESTING! The fifth grade take a trip to a camp for their big 5th grade field trip, which is done at the beginning of the year. Not a big deal, but surrounding schools take their kids to DC towards the end of the year- it kind of gives them something to look forward to. The fifth graders are outside in trailers, which are very cramped.

A couple teachers my kids have had are wonderful, but the vast majority are nasty, burnt out, crotchety old women who don't like kids and need to retire. The school needs to revamp their grading policies. My daughter only has 3-4 grades for an entire marking period (all tests). They don't do nearly enough projects or hands on activities. The teachers are lazy and pull worksheets straight off the internet.
I am not too happy with my experience here so far. I reached out with concerns to my child’s teacher and never heard back. In the morning the women at the school are nasty and have attitudes. I have noticed this during the drop off and so has my husband.
