My experience at Kennedy Catholic High School included numerous positive moments and friendships. The classes offer excellent distribution of material for the students. The curriculum teaches every student respectively and responsively in handling the course of their work ethics and overall educational practices. I participated on the cross country team as a sophomore until my senior year. Kennedy has many other sports activities including football, baseball, lacrosse, and soccer. The clubs include business, robotics, cooking, community service, and culture. Before college, the counselors make sure the incoming students become prepared with certain instructions to take with them for entering universities. However, the school added a few more retreats for the students. I would consider having one or two retreats for the children in high school. Kennedy Catholic shares the determination for all students while they attend this school and inspire them with knowledge and fortitude.
As a student very familiar with poor teachers (having had many throughout Elementary and Middle School) as well as fantastic teachers (also experienced in Elementary and Middle School), I have consistently been introduced to teachers that genuinely care about the education of each student. Many teachers will let me come to their classrooms during break hours to talk about class work or even about life in general! They develop innovative curriculums and are willing to accommodate students who are struggling or falling behind. As in every school, there are a few teachers that are particularly smart but also strict and unapproachable. I have learned how to make the most of these teachers by appreciating their teaching skills but finding help in other areas. I also sometimes struggle in religion classes because I am not Catholic and I attend a Catholic school where there are teachers who are not particularly open to new ideas. However, most of these teachers are respectful and accept our differences even if they do not necessarily want to talk openly about them.
Kennedy academically is a good school. Its teachers for the most part are very talented and work well with their students. Sadly the administration does not always take care of their teachers. That being said, there were quite a few students that fell through the cracks and transferred out. the religious aspect offers an interesting dynamic, however, it grows to be excessive and takes away from valuable class time, sometimes using up to either 1/7th or 1/5th out of each class period. Athletically, Kennedy does well due to their new head of athletics. The only complaint is that other sports besides basketball and football receive little to no funding. Finally, there was a lot of talk about going digital and reducing the amount of paper used. Unfortunately, four years have passed since that announcement and nothing has really happened.
