My experience with Kelly High School is very positive overall. Walking into this school, I feel very welcome. The teachers care very much about their students, taking time out of their busy lives after school to help us comprehend the material. The students are very supportive of each other and motivate one another. Moreover, talking to peers from all sorts of backgrounds, exposes me to new and fresh ideas, expanding my horizons. If it had not been for them, I would not be where I am today. I now put in a lot of effort in my studies and work because they want the best for me. Although the facilities are not well kept, I think the people in the school make it easy to overlook this minor flaw. Not only does the staff help students excel in high school, but they also aid us in preparing for college. We have staff who take us on college trips and help us with scholarships, etc. This school also has college-level classes. I have no regrets attending Kelly!

Thomas Kelly High School tends to get a bad reputation due to people saying that the teachers don't care enough to teach, the students don't care about their grades or learning, there are fights every day in the hallway, etc. However, during all of my 4 years attending school at Kelly, I learned that these rumors were false. The teachers at Kelly are some of the most caring and dedicated individuals that are genuinely concerned with how their students are doing academically as well as mentally. It's true that some of the students are not motivated to learn but no matter what there will always be students like that at any school, but most of the students are very self-driven and work extremely hard to get good grades and be successful. As for the fights, it is definitely not true that there are fights every single day - during my entire 4 years of high school there were only about 3 fights which were also broken up within a couple of minutes and with no real injuries anyway.
I admire the fact that Kelly High School provides a learning environment for all types of students. For example, students get to choose the level of difficulty of their classes by either participating in regular, honors, AP, or IB courses. My high school also offers classes designed for those students that only speak Spanish or Mandarin or are just learning English. Lastly, my school also welcomes special ed students and provides them with the education that they need. Despite these great things, my high school should try to fund-raise to get necessary utilities. My high school needs more working bathroom stalls, new books, and an accessible library. These things are essential and ensure that students feel comfortable and prepared in their school.
