Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School Reviews
Rating 4.08 out of 5 271 reviews
Personally, I would say that Kapaun is a very good school for students that are willing to further their spiritual journey. Otherwise, the school is somewhat ok. You can see that they put in effort into trying to make their students feel more welcome, as they implemented the "family" system recently so that kids are more familiar with others around them and feel like they have someone to talk to. Although, due to the Catholic nature of the school, they seem to turn a blind eye to students who do not fit with the religion's expectations. If you are a minority, you'll feel a bit isolated, and I know this from personal experience. The clubs and sport teams are very active and strong, and there is a sense of community. There is a stress on respect and modesty, so regulations on dress and hair are enforced. The school is well taken care of (the janitors and students both due a wonderful job of keeping everything neat). I rated Kapaun a three due to all the homophobia and racism that I see.
I really appreciated their ways of educated students on how it is important to not take for granted this education we are receiving. The way they focus on the Catholic religion is also very important for everyone in that school. All the teachers are willing to be there and help you with anything, not just school related topics, they also try their best for their students to be successful in their class and will help them if they are not understanding the subject. As an alum, I can assure you that I feel fulfilled and confident with the education a received. It has really shaped me to the person I am thanks to the teachers who have filled a big impact on me. In these classes, you will also be thought to think in real world situations, and as someone who is in college and gets to go to a big institution with students all over the world, I can really say I am appreciative of what Kapaun Mt. Carmel has taught me. Their Mission Statement is right on point and live up to it.
I enjoyed the students. For the most part, nobody caused problems in my class and no one was causing unnecessary drama that dragged everybody into it. I did not enjoy the strict (and unnecessary) dress codes which caused everyone stress. I also did not like how they attempted to root anyone they could out of the Cum Laude program, as it was set up up to root out anyone they deemed couldn't fulfill their standards. The amount of unnessacary rules makes me really annoyed.
