For the longest time, Kapa'a High was known as the "scrappy" one on the island, but our school has really started to turn itself around in the past decade. We don't have AP classes, but our partnership with Kauai Community College is fantastic and all students are encouraged to push themselves with at least one college-level class. Kapa'a High has an expanding Career in Techincal Education program, which allows students to explore job pathways like Business, Engineering, and so on. Impassioned and dedicated teachers are hard to come by, but they are out there. As for the students, the "school spirit" and sense of community starts and ends with our sports teams. There are a lot of empty compliments and fake friendships. Also, it's pretty socially unacceptable to be a more outspoken individual.

I was transferred to this school from Mexico without being able to speak English. Which is why it was really difficult for me to adapt to a new school, different language and culture, but the people at school know how to deal really well with these kinds of issues. They teach ELL classes, which is for students who do not speak the language to adapt and make everyone learn together which I think is cool.
In addition to that, the school counselors communicate the classes you should take and guide you through everything.
The school events were very well organized it was something fun to witness, and there is a good sports spirit ,also I never saw any problems among students.
in fact the teachers were the funniest people, it shows that they like their work especially those of chemistry.
It was a very good experience
One of the things I really enjoyed while attending Kapa'a High School was how involved the community was with sports. I was a athlete that played for numerous of the teams at Kapa'a High, everyone is super supportive.
Some things I would like to change would definitely have to be the college readiness. Teacher should do their best to encourage college classes and college readiness just because it would help them really see if they want to attend college or not. It will also benefit them if they do decide to attend college, they will get a good grasp on what they will expect.
