My experience at Kaneland High School defintley had many positives and negatives. Kaneland High School currently lacks many things currently due to its age. As a Kaneland athlete, there is a lack of equipment and facilities especially in the athletic department. During spring sports, softball, baseball, track, soccer, and other sports are all in the hallways trying to workout because of the lack of space and facilities available. The school overall is very run down and not updated. Some of my own teachers do not have their own classroom and have to travel from classroom to classroom to teach. I have noticed the science areas and classrooms are also very old and updating them could be very beneficial. Kaneland definitley lacks diversity as a whole and are not very culturally inclusive. Overall, Kaneland High School has given me what I need to be successful but could help other future students by updating and upgrading many things.
I had a great experience at Kaneland High School. I attended Kaneland School district for my entire education career. I found there were many opportunities for extracurricular activities, learning assistance, and ways to make new friends and succeed. I found that Kaneland gave many opportunities to have all the students prepared and ready for when we branch out after high school. Whether we went to the trades, military, college, straight to a career, or taking a break they made sure we had a post-secondary plan. We were supported no matter what decision we were making for after high school.
I feel that the school’s end of “school” is great. The staff, the teachers, the programs, it’s all great! The students themselves are issues, but I’m sure that’s widespread. Certain teachers, two of which I’ll name, a Mr. Ponz and Mr. Conroy, are some of the best teachers I’ve ever had the privilege to learn from. Kaneland even having these two teachers puts them above the rest, however the majority of the teachers do truly care about their students. That matters, and that sets Kaneland apart from the rest.
