Kamiakin High School is a great school for getting involved and being apart of something! Our spirit team "Run Kano" is at many sporting and music events to hype up the student crowd, and the Student ASB Leaders are always putting on activities. There are so many opportunities for kids both for getting involved and growing academically. The teachers are very helpful and give their support to encourage growth. Sadly, as more students are enrolling in running start, our school spirit has seemed to decrease. It would be nice to see more school spirit from both teachers and students.

My experience with Kamiakin was very good. I was a part of the Kamiakin Dance team, which was a blast. My best memories from high school are all centered around my experiences with the team. Kamiakin offers excellent sports programs and a rigorous AP curriculum. Kamiakin has great classes for math, science, English, and Humanities. Most of the teachers at Kamiakin are great and work for the best interest of their students. Kamiakin also offers a program called "Gear Up" which is very helpful for preparing high school students for life after high school, whether that be for college or some kind of vocational school.
Kamiakin has a strong academic background. The programs for students who are excelling in school are fantastic. The school offers AP, honors, and Pre-Ap classes to help students prepare for college. It also offers a joint high school and an associate's degree from Columbia Basin College as well as tech school options with Tri-Tech and the local cosmetology school. As far as the downsides go, the principal can be very difficult to work with and is in the job for the money. As long as you avoid him, you're fine.
