Kamiak high school prepares you fairly well for college and has some amazing teachers that will do anything to help you along the way. The political side of Kamiak needs to change, especially in the field of varsity sports because many students do not stand a chance against some of the coaches. The counselors are pretty good at making you feel safe and like you belong, but they sometimes make you figure things out on your own with no real help. Overall, Kamiak is one of the better high schools in the district but it needs a little bit more school spirit!
I like the campus and I like that all my friends are there. However, many of the teachers’ methods are unhelpful. The school spirit from the students is decent but not great. The food quality is less than ideal. The teachers do try to prepare you for standardized testing but that’s not a big focus for them and I wish they did focus on it a little more. There is a very well-rounded number of activities at the school from Drama, dance, and music, to a variety of sports and more clubs than I know about. Overall I’ve had a pretty average experience at Kamiak.
Kamiak High School is one of the better high schools in the Mukilteo School District, from what I've heard. The school does a good job of helping students feel accepted in their learning environment, and is a very - not incredibly, but still very - diverse place where students of many different backgrounds come together to learn from the large selection of courses made available for us to take. There is a decent amount of clubs, but there is definitely a need to expand that selection since most of the clubs don't seem to fit some students. I personally feel like they should do way more to help students prepare for college; I am nearly done with Junior year, and yet I had to figure out all this scholarship stuff and college research all on my own (with quite a bit of help from the Kamiak CCRC website). While we may have the High School and Beyond, which I honestly think is completely useless, we only work on it once or twice a year, before being left in the dark for months.
