Growing up, I was always familiar with Kamehameha Schools and their vision to give native Hawaiian kids proper education. As a student now, I am grateful to be getting the proper education I deserve. Kamehameha is challenging, makes us think harder, and teaches us to strive for the summit. I love being apart of their amazing athletic program. I play soccer and I think their athletic program over here is extraordinary! This school has a welcoming environment as soon as you walk onto campus, it is truly what Ke Aliʻi Bernice Pauahi Bishop envisioned her school to be.
As an alum, I can honestly say that Kamehameha Schools truly prepared me for the real world. Their academic program is rigorous, and the plethora of extracurricular activities taught me invaluable time management and responsibility skills. Finally, the environment is extremely rich in culture, and creates a school unlike any other. IMUA!
As an incoming high school senior, I feel like Kamehameha Schools Kapālama has blessed me with so many opportunities to take full advantage of. They have a variety of academic, athletic, and artistic opportunities for their students, for any student can excel in the areas that they love. The school has all the necessary tools to equip each and every one of their students for success after high school, whether that would be through scholarship, financial aid, or travel opportunities. It also is a very diverse school, where young adults from various minority backgrounds, sexual orientations, and financial situations can embrace each other's differences and gain a wider perspective to the people and communities around them. However, if I had to change anything about our school, I would ask that they give more students freedoms regarding the strict dress code and mandatory graduation requirements like four years of PE and guidance.
