Although from the outside, the school looks rather bland, it really is the people and experiences that come from the wonderful four years spent there. Even though Kalamazoo Christian is a small school, there are many activities that are available each semester. I engaged in basketball, tennis, theater, band, and the National Honor's Society. The teachers really get to know you and they want you to succeed. I made many memories in that building: Good and bad memories, but I would never change them. Kalamazoo Christian is a tremendous experience.
I loved my time at KCHS, the teachers pushed me both academically and spiritually. I was prepared for my college classes and had a good worth ethic from my high school experience. I loved how all the teachers knew everybody and were always willing to help you with another project for another class. The sports teams were always really good and there were plenty of clubs to be involved in as well. I like the trips that they have available for students to take during the interim and the class bonding trip that happens at the beginning of the year. The sense of community is one thing that I think stands out to me the most. I will always be a proud Comet!
Staff and teachers are wonderful! They care about the student and show a genral interest in their lives! Children generally excell here, with high GPA averages and athletic opportunities in various sports. To be noted, it is a largely conservative school, and a great many of students go on to attend christian universities. Additionally, this is a very sheltered community of children, with a lack of real world exposure. There is an international student program but most people are white/caucasion. They have most major sports, not including lacrosse. This school does lack in clubs, there is no newspaper, yearbook, or photography clubs. There is a yeatbook class but nothing is offered outside of school hours. There is no regular lunch offered, on wednesday’s there is food brought in from various fast food places and on Friday the school brings in pizza from Cottage Inn. Some AP/honors classes are offered but not many.
