Kalamazoo Central is your average urban high school. There are students from all types of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. There is a lack of funding, and the red tape in the school's bureaucracy is a real negative. However, the teachers really care for their students. There is help for those who need it, if you choose to take it. And because of the generous Kalamazoo Promise (a scholarship that covers the full expenses of tuition at any Michigan college/university for their high school graduates), the college going culture and prep to ready students for higher education is very strong and well supported.

Kalamazoo Central High School has a group of great teachers who want to see you succeed. While not everyone can say the same, I have had an amazing bunch of teachers who have helped me expand my knowledge and become better in their designated subjects. The diverse atmosphere is also a plus because you get to meet all sorts or cool people. It is nice to be in school where not everyone is the same.
To improve Kalamazoo Central, I would have them fund certain programs more so than they do now. The arts programs are wonderful but it is hard to get funding for anything other than sports.
I graduated Kalamazoo Central High School in 2015. I can look back at my experience with a smile. I was involved in two sports throughout my four years of attendance. I met lots of great people and made many found memories. I took a couple of AP classes, which I gained college credit for one of the classes. There are many wonderful teachers there that care about your success, there are also some that may need improvement in their teaching skills. Before I graduated there was a club called link crew. Juniors and seniors could join this club and they would help freshman make the transition into high school. Overall I had a good experience that helped me prepare for my college experience.
