My experience at June Jordan School for Equity was great. Before attending June Jordan, I had my mind set on another high school but my mother had other plans for me so I dealt with it. Attending June Jordan, I didn't know what to expect. I can say I look at things very different now. June Jordan is a school for equity and social justice. Being in that school really taught me a lot, I marched in the school budget cuts march. At the time we were dealing with budget cuts on schools and we marched down to City Hall chanting and it was a great experience. I also participated in another march that was also related to budget cuts and education. My experience there was great, the teachers are very understanding, very helpful, and the school it's not to small or not to big. The teachers prepare you for college and they help you with college applications, personal statements, and cover letters, and much more. Students have the opportunity to go on college tours every year.

June Jordan was one of the best schools I’ve been to, it helped me become more open about my gender and sexual identity, it helped me learn a lot about myself, etc. I made a lot of lifelong friends. Most of the teachers are amazing, all groups are respected and we are taught and teach not to disrespect or oppress any minority schools. Going to a school for social justice is a very liberating and educational experience, and I plan to work there as an alumni in the Fall. The only issues I had was that this year the scheduling of things were very disorganised and rushed or last-minute.
I loved my teachers I've never had so much support from an instructor or admin staff. When I found it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel my teachers would be there to push me through those hard times. Although, I got so much love for JJSE they could use a little work, I wish there was more of a community feeling along with more school spirit. I would like to see some pep rallies, dances that collaborate with neighboring high schools, and better school games.
