Masterman has many strong qualities, especially college readiness. Not only is it very common to develop awesome relationships with teachers, but these relationships help to define your college application process. Teachers are very supportive in offering advice, recommendation letters, guidance or even just being an ear to listen to you vent. A lot of our classes are challenging but we have amazing teachers that always make time for fun. Masterman is a place for those who like to work hard and play hard! Also, our small student body makes it so that everyone is connected and it feels like one big family (through the good, the bad and the ugly of course).

Overall, the school itself is pretty good with relation to its academics. The school is very competitive and there's lot of people really worried about which college they want to get in. University of Pennsylvania is a very popular choice in this school. The food is mediocre. The party life is surprisingly more than you would think, albeit not too high either. Probably 40% of the high school do drugs or drink alcohol. But other than that, there's not much social interaction between the students as many of them are really focused on their schoolwork and not on parties or having fun. The school is not preppy either, as many would think. There may be some students that think they are better than everyone else because they get higher grades but that's the exception, not the norm.
I love that Masterman only has around 100 kids per graduating class- it allows for tight knit community that has a family like bond, espically since most of kids have gone to the school since 5th grade. However, it feels like there is a bias against kids that aren't the top 10% of the grade, or kids that are extra. If you aren't interested in ivy league schools, specifically UPenn, it seems llike no one cares about you/ your successes. Also there is a total lack of communication like no one tells us whats going on. Overall fun and good expereince, and it has prepared me well for college, however senoir year was made extra hard because of the highly competitive nature.
