Juab is located in a rural community. Sports and FFA are a big deal there, and unfortunately, the arts (band, orchestra, choir, drama, etc.) don't fare as well. It seemed that was partly due to more funding put toward sports and other activities. It is one of the least diverse schools in Utah. It's a pretty small school, so it seems most people know each other or at least know OF each other. I liked the opportunity I had to take concurrent enrollment college courses while in high school, which gave me a head start in college. I have mixed feelings about my time there, but there are some good things about it.
Juab High School is a good small school and most of the staff are very friendly and understanding. I have had many teachers go above and beyond to assure my success. However, their grading scale ranges from class to class and their “Innovative Learning” Philosophy is a mess. There are also an astronomical amount of teacher meetings, so if you miss a day or need extra help, it is aa 50/50 chance that a teacher will be available before and after hours. Althletics are good and supported, as well as arts.
Overall, a pleasant school to attend. Teachers support students in learning and the district has an approach that allows students to succeed academically. Many students are doing well, but I believe more students could thrive with minor changes to administrative policies, and making sure that resources are used effectively. One major area for improvement is making sure our school has an environment that supports a variety of different interests and hobbies. This could be achieved through something as simple as evenly distributing funds to all clubs and discouraging bias against certain groups.
