Jordan High School, is a diamond in the rust. It sits in a horrendous part of Long Beach, which may allow many to carry some kind of stigma as to it. However, it has amazing teachers, dedicated in their work and their commitment to their students. These teachers spend day in and day out working diligently to ensure that everyone not only gets their education based on the curriculum, but to ensure that everyone is stable ans secure personally as well. I truly believe the second part is important. School is a place where people escape from what goes on at home, reason as to why many don't complete homework. School is more than a place, its a home for the hearts of many. Regardless of an outside perspective, these teachers create an environment in which one can successfully succeed academically, creating an ambiance in which one might just succeed and go places beyond their imagination.
My experience at Jordan was very interesting, but I'm pleased to say that I had a fun experience. I will sure miss it very much.
I loved the atmosphere. Here, you're bound to make friends and find loads of different people. The staff here are nice as are the college advisors. Applying is easy and the teachers are willing to help you out no matter the instance. I've made plenty of great friends here. Friends, I'll be keeping up within the years to come. Jordan is really accepting and encouraging to the upcoming youth and underclassmen no matter their gender, race, or religion, Jordan always does its best to accommodate the needs of the children in every way possible.
The school overall was quite nice. I was happy to have experienced my four years of high school without any bullying, as all of my professors in the ACE program were pushing us not only to think critically but also to work together to solve problems. The professors were overall great, the only thing I did not like is when they implemented a different type of teaching within one of my English classes, it felt more like an afterschool program more than an actual class. Counselors were also great, although my academic grades were not the best, my counselors pushed me to not give up and to work hard to graduate, and thankfully I made it without having to go to an adult school. Jordan offers good resources to help its students succeed, it is all in the hands of the students who want a better future for themselves.
What I'd like about Jordan High School is how all the students and staff are friendly, nice, and welcoming especially to incoming students that are new to the school. Personally, I like how Jordan have pathways for different career paths. However, I especially like how Jordan offers the International Baccalaureate (or IB) pathway which gives students the opportunity to take college level courses and potentially earn college credit from successfully completing the course. Jordan's college and career center is also a helpful place to go to if students are interested in earning a job or if they want helpful tips on how to earn and receive financial aid for college.
What I really liked about Jordan High school was the teachers and friends I got to know there. A lot of people say that the school is bad, but really once you get to know them, they are really fun and nice to hang out with. The teachers are nice as long as you obey the rules and be respectful.
At Jordan the academics are great and extracurriculars are greater. It feels like there's something for everyone here. Although the kid that attend can be questionable, the school spirit can be seen all over.
I like how everybody there is willing to help you and how there's so much offer at Jordan but you have to investigate and ask teachers about it and like how there's programs to help you with college or to help you with your pathway and i really like it the clubs are also really involved
It was pretty good, mostly stuck with my group and did my own thing nothing fancy, did sports and joined some clubs.
Jordan high school is one of the best places out there because of the people around you the community, the extracurricular and classes, everything is just great about Jordan high school.
Jordan helps students find their ideal pathway in order to succeed and encourages every student the right support in order to succeed in college.
My experience in Jordan was amazing and unique. There I learned to trust and believe more in myself even in the bad days. I had the opportunity to meet teachers and counselors who helped me with my classes and doubts. I also met very special friends who helped me a lot to adapt to Jordan when I just came to this country. What I like to change in Jordan is the safety of the school because there were many fights between some students.
Jordan high school has allowed us students to explore different career paths through our small learning communities, as well as different corses provided through the PLTW course. I wish there was more academic rigor at the school to push students to work harder and reach their full potential.
I love the way some of the teachers are with the students, they helped me a lot to progress in my academics, It will be great if the students change a little bit the environment so people can see that our school is great.
Jordan High School has such a negative energy surrounding it but these past 4 years there has really been change within the school. Jordan High School in Long Beach is such a diverse body group of students who attend. Academically i seen we reach better academics score these past 4 years as well. Another thing that has change is the new buildings structures making the school bigger and give off a small college community feel but still under construction.
This school is trying its hardest to move past the bad image it accrued in the last 30 years. Jordan has come a long way and has put in a lot of work to improve the lives of the many low income student that attend. From the staff to the academics, to the extracurriculars, this school comes out on top. By implementing different “Pathways” to choose from, students benefit from a more tailored school experience, allowing them to find a focus that interests them while getting their general education. This school also maintains one of the best after school programs in the district, if not all of Southern California. In everything that this school does, from the clubs, to the sports, to the college readiness programs, they do the most they can, the best they can.
In my high school the thing that thoroughly satisfied me was the demeanor of most of my teachers. You can hear the genuine kindness in their voice and eyes, especially when they were trying to motivate students to participate in events. I also liked the fact that they kept it 'real', never telling lies or trying to gloss something over. Mostly what I want to see changed is more participation by students to keep the school progressing much more.
