My high school experience was really great. I had amazing teachers who I absolutely adore and they have inspired me to do great things in my life. I felt safe going to school every day, it was overall a great environment.
Jonesville High School helps students succeed. They have created a safe environment for students to learn in and try their best. The funding available to the school given our rural area limits some of the offerings available. There are advanced classes, but not as many as larger cities and not as difficult as they could be. Our athletics are competitive for our size, but not really state wide for larger districts nor nation wide. We graduate students prepared for college and the work force but we don't really graduate high salary potential workforce employees. Many become entrepreneurs, etc. that will likely earn enough money to remain middle class. It's a real blue collar community.
The FFA adviser is amazing. The library has good vibes as well. There could be a little more done for college readiness but I don't think Jonesville is that different in that all public schools could prepare their students better
My favorite part was how you could have a conversation and joke around with teachers and see how obvious it is that they care. The people here are good, but there are a few that you would expect to see from a school in farmer country. It would be simple to skate by in your classes if you choose not to take anything advanced. However, if you do want advanced classes, then your choices are limited. The only AP classes are English Lit, US History, and Calculus. I had to take classes at Jackson College while dual-enrolled because Jonesville simply does not offer many classes that had to do with my major (social work). They introduced a ticket system, where you get tickets for being good, which you can exchange for prizes. Most teachers forget about them and then give them out in bulk for meaningless things. Overall, this is a good school where people care about your success, and I got into all the colleges I applied to, so you can definitely make something of yourself coming from here.
I have seen a lot of issues with acceptance in my school. The region creates a culture of close-mindedness but that isn’t necessarily the school. Overall the staff is amazing and the teachers are very qualified. One of the best schools in the area. I think the school puts too much emphasis on sports rather than academics but this could also be a regional issue not a school issue.
I absolutely love this school. I am challenged everyday and pushed to reach my full potential. I moved to this school my junior year and I was happily surprised by the schools atmosphere and the community around it. I feel safe and valued as a student and person at Jonesville High School.
While I personally had no issues, I did have a few friends that were bullied while attending. They told me that they reported it numerous times, but the faculty did nothing to help.
Overall, I have had a very positive experience at Jonesville High School. I wouldn't choose to go elsewhere even if I could go back in time to do so.
Jonesville High School is a great place to express creativity and athletics. Everyone is accepting and encourages success.
Overall I like the school. The FFA Chapter advisor was exceptional and I had some awesome experiences in the FFA program
I really like the music, art and sports programs at this school. I also like how all the students are responsible, kind, and have a lot of school spirit. However I would like the school to spend more money on sports other than football, teach the students to be more supportive of each other, and the teachers to help the students show more respect towards their elders. Their concert band, symphony band, and marching band is AMAZING! Although the teacher needs to learn how to not take her frustrations outside of the job on her students because that won't get them anywhere.
Tons of smart kids and smart teachers
Small community doesn't make it overly diverse
Small community makes it a tight knit learning environment
Mostly only provide athletic programs.
The administration is what really makes this school different from others. They are very organized and stay on top of things and be sure to get to know all their students.
